By now you’ve heard about the incident that happened in Wisconsin a few days ago: a Black man, Jacob Blake, who was trying to break up a “verbal altercation,” was surrounded by four police officers; two of which shot him in the back seven times – at close range – as he attempted to enter the passenger’s seat of a vehicle.
The sports world stood in solidarity with us. The games stopped. Teams forfeited their pay – the playoffs, everything – to “stand in the gap” for Jacob Blake and others in our community who’ve lost their lives or live and continue to suffer at the hands of injustice.
To show our solidarity, here’s what BPTN will do.
Our community needs a place to feel safe. Therefore, we will forfeit the cost of general passes for Black men and women in tech and business for the 2020 summit! As of today, general passes for Black professionals in tech are complimentary!
On October 22 and 23rd, please join 10,000 other Black tech professionals and us as we build community, learn, grow, and lead together!
We are in this together!
