Kai Kramer is an associate in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications section of the firm’s Toronto office. He has a corporate/commercial practice with a primary focus on technology. Kai has advised on a variety of technology transactions, including technology procurements and outsourcings, strategic sourcing, inbound and outbound licensing agreements, intellectual property transfers, mergers and acquisitions and financings.
Kai is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) and advises clients on managing their privacy and cybersecurity risk and compliance. This includes advising clients on best practices, negotiating privacy and cybersecurity clauses in technology transactions and completing privacy and cybersecurity due diligence on service providers and targets.
In his role, Kai has been able to gain a business understanding of the full technology stack and its role within each organization he has worked with. Kai leverages his background in technology recruitment and procurement to provide unique insight to clients. By taking a technology driven approach to commercial concerns Kai has been able to assist clients with managing their privacy, user, intellectual property and general commercial risk.
Kai has been seconded by Fasken to Canada’s largest cryptocurrency exchange as the associate general counsel.
Outside of his professional efforts, Kai is an avid soccer player and a perpetual enthusiast in innovation.
